Twitter ends Ad-Free articles for Twitter Blue Subscribers By VARINDIA - 2022-11-0

Twitter will no longer allow subscribers of its Blue service to access ad-free articles. Twitter Blue was launched in June last year as the platform’s first subscription service that offered exclusive access to premium features.

The service allowed subscribers to read articles from some publishers without advertisements. Twitter is planning more changes to its Blue subscription plan that costs $4.99 (roughly Rs. 410) per month, including making user verification a part of the paid service.

The micro-blogging platform said, “We will stop displaying the ‘Twitter Blue Publisher’ label on any tweets containing your articles. We will no longer be sending a Twitter Blue token when people on Twitter access articles from your properties. This will prevent the ad-free experience on your site from loading. There is no change required from your end, but feel free to remove any Twitter Blue code from your site.”

Recently, Elon Musk announced that Twitter will charge $8 per month for its Blue service, which includes the verified badge, as he seeks to boost subscriptions and make the social media network less reliant on ads.

A blue check mark on the social media platform means Twitter has confirmed that the account belongs to the person or company claiming it. Musk said that subscribers with blue check marks would get priority in replies, mentions and search and would be able to post longer videos and audios. Also, subscribers would see half as many ads.
