The scheme aims to attract an investment of INR 59,350 Cr, resulting in production of INR 4,56,500 Cr, and generating additional direct employment of 91,600 persons and many indirect jobs as well.
India is taking significant strides toward becoming a global electronics manufacturing hub with the launch of the India Electronics Manufacturing Scheme. The Union Cabinet has approved an outlay of ₹22,919 crore to bolster the electronics supply chain, attract substantial investments, and generate large-scale employment. This initiative aligns with the Make in India vision, reinforcing India’s position as a key player in the global electronics industry.
The scheme is projected to attract an investment of ₹59,350 crore, leading to electronics production worth ₹4,56,500 crore over the next six years. It aims to create 91,600 direct jobs while also generating numerous indirect employment opportunities. With a one-year gestation period, the initiative ensures that incentives are aligned with employment targets, promoting sustainable industrial growth.
A robust and self-reliant electronics supply chain is crucial for India’s technological advancement. The new scheme focuses on domestic production of essential electronics components, reducing dependency on imports and enhancing supply chain resilience. By supporting local manufacturers, India aims to become a global hub for semiconductors, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and other critical electronic components.
The initiative complements India’s Electronics Policy, which emphasizes self-sufficiency, innovation, and digital transformation. It is expected to drive exports and encourage multinational companies to set up manufacturing units in India. By providing financial incentives, the scheme enhances India's attractiveness for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the electronics sector.
The Make in India program continues to gain momentum through policies designed to enhance domestic production capabilities. The Electronics Manufacturing Scheme plays a crucial role in making India a preferred destination for global electronics giants. By fostering local manufacturing and reducing reliance on imports, India can enhance its global competitiveness in consumer electronics, automotive electronics, and industrial hardware.
With increasing demand for high-tech products such as smartphones, laptops, IoT devices, and AI-driven electronics, India’s electronics manufacturing industry is set for exponential growth. The government’s proactive policies and substantial financial backing provide a strong foundation for achieving long-term sustainability and leadership in the global electronics landscape.
By reinforcing India’s electronics supply chain through strategic investments, infrastructure development, and employment generation, the new manufacturing scheme is a transformative step toward making India a powerhouse in global electronics manufacturing.
