Meta to launch broadcasting channels on Messenger and Facebook

Facebook's parent company, Meta, is bringing its broadcast channel feature—which was first available on Instagram and WhatsApp—to Facebook and Messenger. In the next weeks, Facebook Page managers will have access to this one-to-many public chat option. Page administrators will be able to use this feature, which includes creators and well-known individuals.

Page admins (such as creators and public figures) will be able to use the new communication tool to connect with their followers, which includes polls, voice notes, and more. A lot of creators on Instagram use broadcast channels to post their behind-the-scenes photos or videos, send voice notes regarding their upcoming projects, and take inputs from their communities using polls.

Just like Instagram, Facebook users will be able to join broadcast channels to stay up to date on the latest from their favourite creators and engage with them via poll votes and reactions. These channels are expected to be available on Messenger as well.

Meta says that it is currently testing the ability for Pages to create broadcast channels and expects the feature to roll out in the coming weeks. If you manage a Page on Facebook, you will soon start seeing this new function or else you can join the waitlist by clicking here. You will be notified by Meta once the feature is available for you.

As soon as a Page sends the first message in the broadcast, all the followers of that particular Page will receive a notification to join the channel. Users will also be able to join these channels anytime they want by visiting the Page’s Facebook profile. Netflix, WWE, Hrithik Roshan, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, League of Legends, and more already have live Facebook broadcast channels.
