Could The Biopic of PM Modi Go Live on April 5
By MYBRANDBOOK
The biopic of PM Narendra Modi, where Vivek Oberoi is starring has run into controversy, is scheduled the date on April 5 instead of April 12 .
Several parties and leaders objecting to the timing of its release. The Congress party, among others, has alleged that the movie release was deliberately aimed at influencing voters ahead of Lok Sabha elections and was in violation of EC’s model code of conduct. There is no content related to the election which can be banned under the model code of conduct” the saffron party stated.
BJP said in a reply, the makers created the film after getting influenced by the lifestyle of PM Modi, but the party is in no way involved in it. It also said that there is no violation of the model code of conduct.
Following the complaints, EC had issued a notice to the producers of the movie who have claimed that the film has not been funded by BJP and hence cannot be considered politically motivated. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on April 5, but awaits the approval of the CBFC, where the Lok Sabha election, the first phase of which kicks off six days after the release of the film.
The Opposition has been demanding that the release of the film be deferred till after the election, accusing the government of using cinema as propaganda.
Further, the Election Commission said that, it’ll not impose a ban on the release of the film as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is the competent authority to decide on it.
