Trip planning just got smarter with Google AI

Google’s latest updates enhance itinerary planning with AI-driven recommendations, including a new "screenshot list" in Maps that automatically identifies and organizes locations from stored screenshots, allowing users to save and share them seamlessly
Say goodbye to travel hassles, as Google has rolled out new AI-powered features for Google Maps and Search, leveraging Gemini AI to enhance travel planning and location discovery. The updates aim to simplify itinerary creation and improve user experience with AI-driven recommendations.
A key addition to Google Maps is the new "screenshot list" feature, which automatically identifies places mentioned in screenshots stored on a user’s device. If enabled, Gemini AI will scan and extract relevant location details, allowing users to save and organize them into shareable lists that appear directly on the map.
This feature is initially rolling out to iOS users in the US with English language support, with Android availability expected soon. A global rollout is planned in the coming months.
Google is also expanding its AI Overviews in Search to assist users in trip planning. Now, users can generate custom travel itineraries by entering queries such as “Create an itinerary for Costa Rica with a focus on nature.” The AI will curate recommendations, including user-generated photos, reviews, and an interactive map.
To streamline trip organization, Google has introduced an "Export" button, allowing users to save recommendations to Google Docs, Gmail, or Google Maps lists for easy access and sharing.
Currently, AI-generated travel planning features in Search are available only in the US on mobile and desktop, with plans for expansion to more regions soon.
By integrating Gemini AI into Maps and Search, Google aims to enhance travel convenience and redefine digital trip planning for users worldwide.
