Amazon Partners UP Govt To Back Women Entrepreneurs At Gonda District
By MYBRANDBOOK
Through this structured training, women entrepreneurs will strengthen their digital presence, improve their business strategies, and effectively scale their enterprises on Amazon.in.
In a landmark initiative to promote women empowerment and startup support, Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ARGA, an initiative of the Uttar Pradesh government. This partnership aims to enable women entrepreneurs in Gonda to leverage e-commerce and expand their businesses through Amazon’s Saheli programme. By providing access to advanced digital tools, Amazon India is committed to fostering economic growth and self-reliance among women-led enterprises in the region.
As part of this collaboration, Amazon India will provide comprehensive training and support to women entrepreneurs associated with Brand ARGA. The initiative focuses on equipping them with essential skills in:
Digital and performance marketing for increased online visibility.
Product listing optimization to enhance sales and reach.
Advertising strategies to target wider consumer segments.
Data-driven insights and market analytics to help businesses understand customer preferences and emerging trends.
The partnership was officially launched during the World Wetlands Day celebration at the Parvati Arga Bird Sanctuary in Gonda. The event was graced by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Minister of State for Environment Kirti Vardhan Singh, highlighting the government’s strong commitment to fostering women-led startups and strengthening e-commerce adoption in rural areas.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of digital inclusion for women entrepreneurs, stating,
"With Amazon’s support, these Self-Help Groups (SHGs) now have the opportunity to sell their products online. While our products have always been of high quality, we have now addressed packaging challenges, and with organizations like Amazon onboard, marketing hurdles are also being overcome."
A significant aspect of this partnership is the ability for Brand ARGA to list its wide range of regional specialties on Amazon.in, including:
Pickles, jams, and namkeen
Flour and gram flour-based products
Handmade noodles and other traditional food items
By onboarding these products onto Amazon India’s marketplace, Brand ARGA enables small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to expand their customer base, tapping into both local and international markets. This move is expected to boost rural entrepreneurship, increase sales opportunities, and enhance the visibility of Uttar Pradesh’s local businesses.
The collaboration between Amazon India and the Uttar Pradesh government aims to create a sustainable digital ecosystem where women entrepreneurs can scale their businesses, improve financial independence, and contribute to regional economic development. Through this initiative, women-led enterprises in Gonda will gain access to:
With Amazon’s Saheli programme, government backing, and structured business support, women-led enterprises in Uttar Pradesh are set to thrive in India’s growing e-commerce landscape.
