Diljit Dosanjh apologises to fans for fake ticket scam, urges caution

Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh recently addressed the ticketing scam that affected his Dil-Luminati India Tour 2024 concerts in Delhi last month. During a performance at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) on November 2, Dosanjh expressed his regret for fans who were impacted by the fraudulent ticket sales. “I apologize to those who were affected by the scam. This is beyond our control, and authorities are investigating the situation,” he stated, noting that his team was unaware of the issues until after the tickets sold out quickly. “The tickets went so fast that we didn’t even realize what was happening,” he added.
Dosanjh urged his fans to be vigilant about such scams and to purchase tickets only from authorized sellers. The Dil-Luminati India Tour 2024 is organized by Ripple Effect Studios and Saregama India, with Zomato Live managing the ticketing process.
The singer's concerts in Delhi took place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 26 and 27, where he captivated thousands of attendees with his popular songs. However, these events were marred by ticket black-marketing issues. Similar problems had previously affected ticket sales for the British band Coldplay’s upcoming concert in Mumbai, which sold out in minutes and led to tickets being resold at inflated prices.
Following the swift sellout, many fans reported falling victim to scams involving fake tickets or exorbitant fees for genuine ones. In response, the Enforcement Directorate initiated an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, conducting searches at more than 13 locations on October 25.
Additionally, Dosanjh’s Delhi concerts faced criticism for poor organization. According to reports, one fan highlighted the lack of proper facilities, noting that the women’s washrooms were unhygienic and poorly lit. They also shared a troubling incident in which a girl in the Gold Pit fainted and did not receive prompt help from the staff.
