iPhone 16 series now up for grabs as sale starts today

The wait is finally over for those wishing to own the latest models of iPhones in India, as the sales for iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max kicked off today morning at Apple Saket (Delhi) and Apple BKC (Mumbai), along with other authorised retail stores across the country. The new Apple iPhone 16 lineup – with new buttons, slightly updated design, and improved hardware – was announced on September 10, and their pre-bookings began on September 13.

Scores of enthusiastic fans thronged outside the stores, with some even arriving much earlier, hoping to be among the first to buy the new premium-segment smartphones that Apple is known for in India. The new iPhone series are available for purchase through various online and offline platforms. One can also buy them through the official Apple Store website, the company’s physical stores, and multi-brand electronics outlets such as CromaReliance Digital, and Vijay Sales, to name a few.

Now, coming to the pricing and colours, the iPhone 16 costs Rs 79,900 in India for the base variant with 128GB storage, while the iPhone 16 Plus starts from Rs 89,900 for the 128GB variant. Both devices are also available in 256GB, and 512GB storage options. The iPhone 16 series comes in Black, Pink, Teal, Ultramarine, and White colour options. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro with 128GB storage comes with a price tag of Rs 1,19,900, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,44,900 for the 256GB option. These two models can also be purchased with 512GB, and 1TB storage. The Pro models are available in Black Titanium, Desert Titanium, Natural Titanium, and White Titanium shades.

For those unversed, the iPhone 16 sports a 6.1-inch display with improved Ceramic Shield protection and 2,000 nits peak brightness, whereas the iPhone 16 Plus houses a larger 6.7-inch display. Both the phones offer only a 60Hz OLED panel. The most interesting part of both the models are an Action button and an all-new Camera Control button. They are powered by the new Apple A18 SoC and boast of a redesigned dual rear camera setup that enables Spatial capture. The smartphones offer a 48MP main rear camera with 2x in-sensor zoom and a 12MP ultrawide camera that now enables macro photography. Besides, you get a 12MP TrueDepth camera for selfies on the front. The smartphones run iOS 18 out-of-the-box, and are scheduled to get Apple Intelligence features with the iOS 18 update.

On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max feature larger displays and slimmer bezels. The Pro has a 6.3-inch display, whereas the Pro Max sports a 6.9-inch display. Both the models come with a Retina XDR OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,000nits brightness. Camera-wise, the iPhone 16 Pro models boast of a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP main camera, a new 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP telephoto 'tetraprism' periscope camera with 5x optical zoom. A 12MP TrueDepth camera is there on the front for taking selfies. They also support 4K 120fps recording. These two pro models are backed by the Apple A18 Pro chipset and run iOS 18 out-of-the-box.
