e-KYC documents feature of the mAadhaar app allows for paperless offline verification
By MYBRANDBOOK
The mAadhaar app now includes a new function called "Paperless Offline e-KYC'' offered by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). Users can create safe papers that can be shared or verify their identity offline with this function. Users must download or update the mAadhaar app in order to access the feature. They must then log in with their registered phone number, tap the Services tab, choose Paperless Offline e-KYC (Know Your Customer), enter their Aadhaar number and share code, confirm with an OTP, and share the generated.zip file—along with the share code and registered mobile number—with the organization or service provider.
The mAadhaar app offers multiple functionalities which includes Aadhaar authentication, locating enrollment centers, and accessing services such as EID/UID retrieval, Aadhaar download, biometric authentication, and mobile/email verification.
For organizations and financial institutes, KYC (Know Your Customer) is a critical process to validate the identity and authenticity of customers. This involves collecting various documents for identification purposes before onboarding customers. But the new "Paperless Offline e-KYC" feature within the mAadhaar app will transform the process.
This new feature will enable users to generate secure and shareable documents directly from the mAadhaar app, serving as an offline verification method. UIDAI describes it as a "secure shareable document which can be used by any Aadhaar holder for offline verification of Identification."
