Instagram will bring changes to its navigation from February

Instagram from February will begin changing its navigation to make it easier for users to share and connect with their friends and interests. This was announced by the Meta-owned service on its official blog.

As part of the update, the navigation bar at the bottom of the Instagram app will now have the shortcut for creating content in the centre, while Reels will be to its right. Also, while the Instagram Shop tab will be removed, shopping will continue to exist in a user's feed, stories, reels, ads and more.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said in a video message the idea behind the change is to ‘simplify’ the photo and video-sharing service.

“We're trying to bring people together over what they love. And as a reminder, to do that we're focused on three things: on inspiring people to express themselves, on helping people discover what they love and on sparking connections between people over what they find,” said Mosseri.

He concluded that it is hoped that this new, ‘simpler’ version will focus more on these three things.
