MamaEarth raises $80 million at unicorn valuation

Baby and mother care brand Mamaearth has raised nearly $80 million in a new round led by Sequoia at a unicorn valuation of $1.07 billion. Mamaearth is one of the fastest-growing brands in India’s FMCG sector.

Mamaearth has become the 43rd start-up to join the unicorn club in 2021. It has approved the allotment of 1,741 Series F preference shares at an issue price of $45,294.33 to raise $79.5 million.

It claims to have achieved a total sales of around Rs 500 crore in the previous financial year and further targets a two-fold jump in sales in the next year. The company has emerged as one of the top D2C brands in India.

MamaEarth is among the few start-ups to turn unicorns with a woman co-founder including OfBusinessMobiKwik, Good Glamm Group and Pristyn Care. It has grown to 140-odd stock keeping units (SKUs) in baby care, skincare, and haircare segments, and has served more than five million consumers across 500 cities.
