India Mobile Congress is slated for December 8-10

The India Mobile Congress (IMC) will be held in India between December 8-10. The fourth edition of the annual event will be hosted virtually this year due to the ongoing pandemic and it will witness over 50 participating countries along with over 110 global speakers, start-ups generating over 30 hours of content in a span of three days. The event is expected to attract over 15,000 visitors this year.

 

The theme for IMC 2020 is "Inclusive Innovation - Smart | Secure | Sustainable”. Apart from focusing on various technological trends such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), Data Analytics, Cloud and Edge computing, Open source tech, data privacy and cyber-security, smart cities and automation, the event would also promote Atmanirbhar Bharat (Make In India - local manufacturing and to push for Make for World), foster international regional cooperation, to inspire Satat Bharat – Sanatan Bharat (Digital inclusive in connecting nearly 6 lakh villages with optical fiber and sustainable development), promote Samagra Bharat - Saksham Bharat (entrepreneurship and innovation), drive foreign and local investments, encourage research and development in the telecom sector and emerging technology sectors and facilitate supportive regulatory and policy frameworks.

 

Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications, Education and Electronics & Information Technology Shri Sanjay Dhotre, says, “We firmly believe that the India Mobile Congress 2020 will be a key showcase for technology-driven initiatives as it brings together all stakeholders in the Telecommunications ecosystem and provides the right forum for valuable discourse on key topics relevant to policymakers, regulators and the industry. India Mobile Congress is one such platform, where the efforts of the Indian Government and the Telecom Industry are given an apt showcase to not just our nation, but to the world at large.”

 

Telecom Secretary Anshu Prakash says, "We have to rise to the occasion. I am told that this (is the) largest technology event in South Asia. We should build upon it. DoT is funding at least 30 SMEs (small and medium enterprises) and start-ups to participate in this event."
