Anand Mahindra's strong message to Indian techies in US – 'Swagatam, Welcome Home'

If the new proposal of not extending H-1B visa of those waiting for permanent residency (Green Card) is implemented, close to 5,00,000 - 7,00,000 Indian tech workers staying in the US will have to return home.

Anand Mahindra, Chairman Mahindra Group, took Twitter to express his "welcome" message for "skilled" workers who may have to come back if the change in the H-1B rules is applied.

He wrote: "If that happens, then I say 'Swagatam, Welcome Home.' You're coming back in time to help India Rise..."

This post comes just a day after a report suggested that the latest move by the Donald Trump administration could directly stop hundreds of thousands of foreign workers from keeping their H1B visas while their green card applications are pending. The proposal is part of Trump’s “Buy American, Hire American” initiative promised during the 2016 campaign.

Noted industrialist, Mahindra, is probably one of the most active Indian businessman on the micro-blogging site Twitter who never shies away from expressing his opinion.
