Jio begins registrations for its GigaFiber
By MYBRANDBOOK
Jio backed by billionnaire Mukesh Ambani has brought out another revolution in India on the occasion of Independence Day 2018 with two mega launch of Reliance Jio GigaFiber and JioPhone, thereby disrupting the mobility industry in India further. Reliance Jio has already been a gamechanger in the mobile telephony industry after it brought down mobile data charges and the cost of making mobile phone calls.
Reliance Jio will start registration for its Jio GigaFiber, which is the company’s, most awaited solution fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband internet service. Additionally, Facebook, YouTube and Google Maps will be made available on JioPhone. Registrations has opened on 15th August itself on Facebook, YouTube and the good part is that WhatsApp apps will be coming to the original JioPhone.
Jio GigaFiber was announced last month, and will provide speeds upto 1Gbps, as per the company. For now, users can only register their interest for the Jio broadband service; the company will give priority to areas with the highest interest for the roll-out.
Expectations are high that Reliance Jio will bring down the cost of broadband in India with the launch of Jio GigaFiber. The effect will go beyond broadband services as Reliance Jio will offer a combo package which includes TV connection, broadband and landline phone.
Registrations simplified for Reliance Jio GigaFiber -
1. Log on to the registration page of Reliance Jio GigaFiber.
2. Enter your address. Mention whether you want the Reliance Jio GigaFiber connection at your home or office.
3. Enter your name and mobile number.
4. Submit the OTP sent to your phone. You also have the option of declaring whether you are submitting the details on behalf of your RWA/developer or township.
5. You will also able to share multiple addresses where you want the Jio GigaFiber service to be made available.
Jio GigaFiber will provide “wall-to-wall high-speed Wi-Fi coverage” and also power the company’s GigaTV and Smart Home solutions. For setting up the Jio GigaFiber network, the company will install a Jio GigaRouter at your home or office. With this the users will be able to experience the streaming of 4K videos and play VR games on the network. Secondly, the broadband network will also power the TV experience and the smart home suite. For large screen TVs, the company will install the GigaTV set-top box and provide a voice-activated remote to users. The company claims that consumers will be able to watch “600+ TV channels, thousands of movies, millions of songs, and any other type of content possible” with this set-top box. The presentation showed apps such as JioTV, JioCinema, JioTVCall, JioSmartLiving, JioNetVelocity, JioCloud, MediaShare, and JioStore on a TV screen.
The Jio broadband service had been in testing for the past couple of years, with users reporting download speeds of over 700Mbps.
