Lenovo Unveils AI-optimised ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 For Video Conferencing

Lenovo has announced the launch of the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2, one of the first AI-optimized computing devices specifically designed for video conferencing room systems. Powered by Intel Core Ultra processors with an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 is engineered to meet the demands of AI-intensive tasks, enhancing collaboration and productivity while consuming 40% less power compared to previous models.

The device supports various AI-enabled features, including intelligent participant framing, automatic voice detection, smart name tags, and real-time meeting summaries. It seamlessly integrates with collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms, utilizing AI tools like Microsoft Copilot and Zoom AI Companion. These capabilities offer predictive assistance by suggesting actions or resources before they are requested and providing real-time productivity analytics.

The ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 is equipped with Intel’s latest Core Ultra 7 165H and Ultra 5 135H processors on the Intel vPro platform. It offers up to 32GB of dual-channel DDR5 memory operating at 5600MHz and up to 256GB of PCIe TLC SSD storage, along with Intel Arc graphics. For connectivity, the device includes multiple ports for flexible room configurations, featuring two HDMI-Out, one HDMI-In, and several USB-C and USB-A ports for seamless integration with a variety of peripherals. It also supports WLAN 802.11 AC (2x2) and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 for wireless connectivity.

According to the company, the device can operate continuously year-round in temperatures ranging from 5 to 40 degrees Celsius. Its fanless design and removable cable management system provide a compact and sleek setup, making it ideal for various room configurations. Additionally, the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 incorporates advanced security features, including TPM 2.0 and Kensington MiniSaver lock slots, as well as hardware-based protection through the Intel vPro platform and automatic Windows 11 security updates.

To facilitate integration and installation, Lenovo offers the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 Full Room Kit, which includes the ThinkSmart Bar 180—an intelligent speaker system designed to enhance audio performance. The kit is compatible with different room setups, featuring either the Lenovo IP Controller or the ThinkSmart Controller.

The device comes preloaded with ThinkSmart Manager software for real-time remote management and includes a three-year Lenovo warranty with Premier Support, as well as a one-year ThinkSmart Manager Premium license. Additionally, users gain access to Lenovo Smart Collaboration Professional Services for deployment and maintenance support. The ThinkSmart Core Gen 2, bundled with the Controller, starts at USD 2,900 (approximately Rs 2,43,733) and is expected to be available by the end of 2024.
