US Coronavirus cases cross 1 Lakh marks

USA has become the first country in the world to breach unfortunate mark of 1 Lakhs Coronavirus cases. While it took 64 days to reach 50,000 corona cases, it took just 3 days to surpass 1 lakh mark from 50,000. New York has emerged as the United state epicenter of the Coronavirus outbreak.

 

New York is the worst hit state in the US, with over 500 deaths and more than 44,000 infections. According to reports, many hospitals in the country have sounded the alarm about scarcities of drugs, medical supplies and trained staff. However, the US death rate based on confirmed cases is about 1.5 percent, compared to around 10.5 percent in Italy.

 

The report becomes unbelievable with more 1 Lakhs infected in US has earned the unwanted distinction of leading the world in confirmed coronavirus cases. On Friday evening, the United State has reported at least 101,242 known cases of Covid-19, coronavirus and 1,588 people have died. Coronavirus was reported in the country and US has become the epicenter of the global pandemic, overtaking the other countries such as China and Italy.

 

"We're still seeing a rising number of cases, a rising number of hospitalizations, rising number of intensive care unit admission, a rising number of patients with the mechanical ventilators," Thomas Tsai, a professor of health policy at Harvard told AFP.

 

More than 590,000 people have contracted the corona virus around the world and roughly 26,000 have died. While the US now leads the world in covid-19, coronavirus infections, 5 countries exceed its more than 1,500 deaths- Italy, China, Spain, Iran and France. Deaths due to coronavirus in Spain climbed past 4,900 - the world’s second highest total after Italy.

 

In the country China, where the outbreak originated in the month of December, 3,287 people have died due to coronavirus pandemic while Italy has recorded 8,215 such deaths.
