Juniper Networks: To invest in India to create new opportunities
By MYBRANDBOOK
Chief Executive Officer, Juniper Networks, Rami Rahim is very encouraged by the wins that Juniper has recently obtained, both in the service provider and in the enterprise side.
Rami conveys that Juniper Networks has seen a good balance between the telecom operators and the cloud providers that are operating in India. The marketplaces are also leveraging the cloud along with the broader enterprises such as the Banking and Financial services.
Juniper had previously announced 1 billion in investment in India. They have been investing more into research and development center. Each year Juniper is adding more resources.
According to Rami, the largest function of Juniper in India is their engineering function. They have over twenty-six hundred engineers in India right now. From an engineering stand point, it’s a very significant fraction of the overall engineering talent and in fact it is the largest single engineering site in the company.
Rami thinks the growth drivers in India are pretty much same as the growth drivers overall. The key pillars of growth will be building highly automated datacenter infrastructure for enterprises, cloud providers and service providers.
Secondly, this cloud phenomenon that is happening is putting a lot of pressure on the wide area network and so Juniper has introduced a routing technology to support the immense growth that it expects in this space in India.
Thirdly, Juniper is helping telco partners to transform their networks and become a more like cloud service delivery engines.
Juniper takes 5G as a global opportunity. The first movers in 5G are primarily going to be in the US, Korea, Japan and parts of Asia but eventually everyone will follow suit.
Juniper will also continue to work on the economics of networking which will become even more important as 5G deployments happen. There is certainly a lot of need by service providers who are moving towards a 5G infrastructure to secure the underlying infrastructure, users and data without slowing down the performance. This is an area where Juniper is a leader in the industry today.
Juniper is now involved within Smart cities initiatives, primarily modernization initiatives and connectivity in rural areas and certain provinces.
Rami confirms that the opportunity in India is interesting as the ambition of the government is clear in terms of offering connectivity and digitizing the economy.
