Cloud Security Failures

Cloud Security Failures

About 99% of cloud security failures are the customer’s fault. Complete visibility into every deployed resource as well as absolute confidence in their configuration and compliance status is foundational to a robust cloud security posture. The cloud is an unyielding force with exponential levels of complexity, and this lends it to be difficult to control.

Cloud adoption has brought a wave of change to today's businesses, from enhanced internal collaboration and consumer engagement to improved agility and cost savings. The growth of private, public and hybrid cloud use among enterprises has done more than just spur digital transformation; it has broadened the infrastructure businesses that need to secure.

To safely embrace the cloud and reap its benefits, organizations need visibility into a larger and more complex landscape than ever before. There are four broad categories of security issues when it comes to securing cloud infrastructure: human error, runtime threats, shadow IT and poor strategic planning.

The good news is that a large portion of that 99% of cloud failures is actually preventable if a customer knows exactly what they are responsible for securing in their cloud. This brings The Shared Responsibility Model.

Secondly, one of the biggest cloud security threats is simply due to human negligence, so it's completely preventable. A cloud misconfiguration happens when a user or admin fails to properly set a cloud platform's security setting.

Ransomware is considered to be one of the biggest cyber security threats in 2022 and it’ll continue to be more or less the same in 2023 , posing a serious cyber threat to businesses of all sizes. Ransomware attacks work by infecting your network and locking down your data and computer systems until a ransom is paid to the hacker.

New tech and cloud adoption can be a double-edged sword. Organizations need it to innovate and improve business value, however, it is not without risk.
