#MeToo Effect: 3,000 Gurugram private firms to come under notice

Gurugram district-level Local Complaints Committee (LCC) is going to ask for explanations from around 3,000 of the total 5,500 private firms in the city, on their failure to submit safety audit reports on prevention of sexual harassment to women at workplace. As per the Haryana Government's order, the Local Complaints Committee was established in December 2013.

The Committee chairperson Anuradha Sharma confirms to send them notices and seek their explanation.

LCC has served notices to all the registered companies, seeking their replies on various issues including establishment of internal complaint desk and panels, as mandated under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

Sharma has informed any company having more than 10 employees falls under the rule of LCC and should have an Internal Complaint Committee (ICC).

However the LCC chairman admits that Internal Complaint Committee is lacking in many of the small-scale industries. But they are in the process to find out such companies.
