Download masked Aadhaar to improve privacy

Download a masked Aadhaar from UIDAI to improve privacy. Select masking when downloading to lower the chance of misuse. Use UPPERCASE name initials and birth year as the password for extra protection, then confirm with OTP. It is intended to improve your security and privacy by lessening the possibility that someone else may misuse your entire Aadhaar number in the unlikely event that they manage to see your card.

In Masked Aadhaar, the first 8 digits are hidden, while in regular Aadhaar, all the 12 digits are visible. Masked Aadhaar provides a higher level of security as it masks a portion of one’s Aadhaar number. This reduces the risk of identity theft, misuse, and fraud. While an Aadhaar card has some inbuilt features, such as hologram, guilloche pattern, ghost image, and more, it is still less secure since the Aadhaar number is visible and can be misused by con artists.

Ways to Download Masked Aadhaar Using Aadhaar Number:

1. Go to the official UIDAI myAadhaar portal

2. From the myAadhaar page, click on ‘Download Aadhaar’

3. You will be redirected to eAadhaar Download

4. Select the Aadhaar number option

5. Enter Your Aadhaar Number and Captcha

6. Enter the OTP sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card and check the ‘Do you want a masked Aadhaar?’ box

7. Next, click the ‘Verify & Download’ button

8. You will receive a confirmation of your masked Aadhaar download

9. Go to the downloads section of your computer and click on the masked Aadhaar document. You will be asked for a password, which will be a combination of the first 4 letters of your name (as in Aadhaar) and your year of birth.
