Apple may change name of Apple ID to Apple Account this year

Apple is considering changing the name of its "Apple ID" soon and rebranding it as "Apple Account". Just like how Android users call it Google Account, Apple users will have to refer to their dedicated Apple Account to access various services like iCloud and the App Store. Apple has reportedly planned a system-wide rebrand to "Apple Account" in 2024, confirming this possibility for later this year.

Apple's plan to rebrand Apple ID to Apple Account is expected to coincide with major software updates like iOS 18 and watchOS 11. Apple might introduce this change at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, giving developers some time to adjust their apps before the fall release.

Interestingly, Apple already uses the term "Apple Account balance" for funds added to an Apple ID. This report suggests a move towards a complete name change.

While the reason for the switch remains unclear, "Apple Account" offers a more straightforward and descriptive name compared to "Apple ID". Phasing out the familiar "Apple ID" used for over two decades will be significant for users. The new name likely aims to better reflect the account's functionality and the wide range of services it encompasses.

Meanwhile, talking about the WWDC and new updates in line, all the eyes are also on Apple for the new OS update – the iOS 18, which could mark one of the most significant iPhone OS updates in Apple's history. He reveals that iOS 18 is expected to introduce a plethora of new features, including an AI makeover dubbed "Project Graymatter."
