Reliance Jio unveils JioPhone Prima 4G in India for Rs 2,599
By MYBRANDBOOK
Reliance Jio has launched a new feature phone - ‘JioPhone Prima 4G’ at the Indian Mobile Congres 2023. The new feature phone offers 4G connectivity and operates on KaiOS, an open-source operating system based on Firefox OS that was developed for phones with keypads and keyboards.
Compared to Android and iOS, there are not many apps that are available for the phones running on KaiOS. It supports popular apps like WhatsApp, YouTube, Google Maps and Facebook to name a few. There are some Jio apps like Jio Cinema, JioTV and JioChat that are available on the phone.
JioPhone Prima 4G is powered by an ARM Cortex A53 processor and comes with 512MB RAM, which should be more than enough for a feature phone. It has a 2.4-inch screen that is backed by a 1,800mAh battery. What’s interesting is that the device comes with both front and rear cameras and an LED torch.
Users will get a huge circular button with a microphone icon on the keypad, but Jio is yet to clarify what it does. The phone has a microSD card slot that lets users expand storage up to 128GB and a single SIM slot. On the connectivity side of things, it offers a 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth 5.0.
JioPhone Prima 4G will be available through official channels and JioMart for Rs 2,599.
