Notably, it is the first time two companies are broadcasting the IPL matches on separate platforms in India and other regions. While the TV rights have been acquired by Disney Star, and they are telecasting the games on the Star Sports networkViacom18 has acquired the digital rights, and they are streaming the matches for free on their OTT platform Jio Cinema.

Jio Cinema responded to users on Twitter and offered their apology for the inconvenience that fans experienced. Jio said, “We apologize for this problem. We don’t want you to have this kind of experience. To help us resolve this matter, please send us a direct message with your OS, app version, and mobile number. Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible.”
