Zomato and Swiggy are facing an outage due to technical issues for some users in India, after a number of users reported on Twitter that they were not able to order food from the apps due to the downtime.
The apps are not working for some users, while the others are not able to process the orders. It is also noted that the customer care service of both Zomato and Swiggy stopped responding to the customers amid the outage.
In the case of Zomato, 85 percent of users reported issues with the app, 12 percent with the website and 3 percent reported login issues. For Swiggy, 88 percent users reported issues with the app, 11 percent with the website and 1 percent with regards to order tracking.
Zomato tweeted, “Hi there, we are facing a temporary glitch. Please be assured our team is working on this and we will be up and running soon.” Swiggy, on the other hand, said: “…we are facing a temporary technical glitch. Please be assured that our best minds are working on the issue at the moment to get the issue resolved at the earliest. Please bear with us till then.”
Both Zomato and Swiggy are also being investigated for alleged unfair business practices. The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), which represents over 500,000 restaurants across the country, had asked the CCI to investigate the two companies for allegedly providing priority to some eateries.
While the apps have resumed working normally for some users, they are still down for others.
