Lazada faces a huge data compromises 1.1 million accounts

Singapore based e-commerce firm Lazada face a data breach which owns RedMart, the personal information including addresses and partial credit card numbers from 1.1 million accounts had been hacked, a major breach in the city-state of 5.7 million.as reported by Reuter.

 

This RedMart-only information is more than 18 months out of date and not linked to any Lazada database," a Lazada spokesperson said. The Alibaba-owned firm said in an email that the information was taken from a database of its grocery arm RedMart that was more than 18 months out of date.

 

"The user information that was illegally accessed include names, phone numbers, email and mailing addresses, encrypted passwords and partial credit card numbers," a spokesman for Lazada said.

 

Lazada added that the information stolen was last updated in March 2019, and the affected RedMart-only database is not linked to any Lazada database. "Lazada does not request customers to verify your personal information," it added.

 

"This RedMart-only information is more than 18 months out of date and not linked to any Lazada database. The user information that was illegally accessed include names, phone numbers, email and mailing addresses, encrypted passwords and partial credit card numbers. We have taken immediate action to block unauthorised access to the database."
