CBI arrests accused of Tatkal Ticketing Scam

According to news reports, the Tatkal ticket reservation system of the Railways has been manipulated by a CBI official and his partner, through an illegal software. It was simulated by the CBI official and they were operating it at the pan-India level.

The CBI has arrested its Assistant Programmer Ajay Garg and Anil Gupta for simulating and distributing the software to agents for a price, a CBI spokesperson said. The two accused, Garg and Gupta, were arrested from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh by the central agency and brought here last evening.

During interrogation, they said that their network was spread across the country. The agency has so far identified ten travel agents who were part of the network but their questioning is exposing more agents who subscribed to their illegal services. The present version of the software was developed nearly a year back.

The money from the travel agents who booked tickets using his system was collected through bitcoins and hawala channels to avoid scrutiny.
