Hewlett Packard Enterprise(HPE) officially unveiled a state of art technology equipped, a new office building in north San Jose as the company’s headquarters into the Bay Area’s largest city and announced a series of benefits enhancements - among them, six months of paid leave following the birth or adoption of a child.
HPW announced various other benefits include the ability to leave the office three hours early once each month as part of something HPE calls "Wellness Fridays." Employees are "encouraged" to take the paid time off to do volunteer work or career development, or to focus on their physical or mental health, the company said.
“Innovation is our top priority at HPE, and that is made possible by the culture we build,” HPE CEO Antonio Neri said . “We will retain and attract the best talent because of who we are, how we work, and how we treat our people, which in turn will help our customers and partners thrive.
Several of the new benefits are focused on improving work-life balance for HPE's 60,000 global employees, including the 3,000 who work in the Bay Area - 1,300 of whom will eventually be based at the new headquarters. Among the benefits:
* Career reboot: Creating job opportunities at HPE for those who have been out of the workforce for a period of time because they were raising children or serving as caregivers to an elderly parent.
* Retirement transition: Allowing workers who are within one year of retirement the chance to work part time to help them ease into the next phase of their lives.
HPE also is offering new parents the chance to work part-time for up to 36 months after the birth or adoption of a child.
Neri also announced the various changes during grand opening ceremonies at HPE's new headquarters at America Center, which is on the northern edge of San Jose and the southern tip of the San Francisco Bay.
