Social media giant X (formerly Twitter) experienced a major global outage today, leaving millions of users unable to access the platform. Reports indicate that both the web and mobile versions of X are affected, with users encountering error messages such as “Something went wrong, try reloading.” The outage has led to widespread frustration, with users taking to alternative platforms to voice concerns and share memes about the disruption.
According to Downdetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, over 200 outage reports have been recorded from India alone. The outage appears to be impacting multiple regions worldwide, though the exact cause remains unknown. Some speculate that a server failure or internal technical issue may be responsible, but X has yet to provide an official statement.
The disruption has raised questions about platform reliability and security vulnerabilities, especially given X’s role as a primary hub for real-time news, discussions, and crisis communication. In recent months, Elon Musk has made significant changes to the platform, including infrastructure upgrades, but outages continue to occur sporadically.
