Mahindra Group announces AI division to spearhead its business operations

Mahindra Group has announced the setting up of an AI division to streamline artificial intelligence integration across its businesses like automotive, real estate, and hospitality. The division will collaborate with Tech Mahindra to create AI solutions, leveraging internal talent and external innovations to support its wide range of business operations.
This move is aimed at centralising AI efforts and integrating them into mainstream operations.
The division operates at the corporate level of the Mahindra Group, catering to all its businesses, including Mahindra & Mahindra (automotive), Mahindra Lifespace (real estate), and Mahindra Holidays (hospitality).
Bhuwan Lodha has been assigned to spearhead this new AI division. Earlier, he led digital operations in the group’s flagship auto business.
As per a news source, Lodha said, “We have set up the AI division at a group level which is tasked to make our businesses successful with AI.”
It is expected that the new division will be critical for talent development. Lodha emphasised that the division would provide a career path for AI specialists and ensure engaging work across multiple entities and sectors.
This move aligns with the growing trend of Indian conglomerates investing in AI capabilities. During the 47th AGM, Reliance Industries revealed its plans to integrate generative AI across all of Jio's processes and offerings. The company is currently developing 'Jio Brain,' a comprehensive suite of AI platforms and tools being piloted across all Reliance group companies.
Similarly, TCS launched ‘AI WisdomNext’, designed to remove barriers for customers to develop and launch business solutions using GenAI tools. Siva Ganesan, head of AI.Cloud Unit at TCS, said, “TCS AI WisdomNext helps our customers take advantage of GenAI to unlock the full potential of their data, drive greater business innovation and efficiency and gain a competitive edge.”
