After the division of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Nara Chandrababu Naidu became the first Chief Miniter. Prior to this he served as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh from 1995 to 2004. He aimed to develop Andhra Pradesh by upholding the major cities of the state for foreign investment especially in sectors like information technology, biotechnology, healthcare and various out-sourcing services.  

Microsoft Corporation has established a software-development centre in Hyderabad. Naidu encouraged other global IT companies (IBM, Dell, Deloitte, Computer Associates and Oracle) to move to Hyderabad, making presentations to global CEOs convincing them to invest in his state.
