Google promotes Sanjay Gupta as APAC President

Sanjay Gupta, who is the present Country Manager - India for Google has been elevated as the President for Asia Pacific. Gupta has also worked at Bharti Airtel as the Chief Marketing Officer (Mobility) and left it to join Star India as its Chief Operating Officer in 2009.

 

Gupta succeeds Scott Beaumont, the current president of Asia Pacific at Google, who will be retiring at the end of the year, after nearly 16 years with the company.

 

According to a source, Roma Datta Chobey will be the interim head of the Large Customer Sales (LCS) team. She is presently the Managing Director for Google India.

 

In his post on LinkedIn announcing the new role, Gupta said, “APAC isn’t just any region; it’s the heart of global growth and innovation, home to half the world’s population and poised to lead the tech revolution.”

 

“Scott’s leadership and vision has already paved the way for Google’s investments in APAC. We grew our footprint around the region, invested in technical infrastructure, focused on skills development and partnered with the technical and scientific community in the region to support APAC’s prowess,” Gupta wrote. “I am humbled and excited to build upon this incredible momentum,” he added.
