Nokia Launches Broadband Easy Connect to Streamline Home Fiber Connections
By MYBRANDBOOK
Nokia announced the launch of Broadband Easy Connect, a new subscription-based service designed to help operators streamline, simplify, and accelerate the process of connecting homes to fiber networks. This service enables operators to manage the entire home fiber connection process, from the initial end-user request to the final service activation.
As global fiber deployments increase, operators face significant challenges in cost-effectively connecting subscribers. Over 30% of home connections do not go as planned due to manual procedures, inaccurate data, and tight schedules, resulting in multiple truck rolls. These issues inflate costs and extend connection times, significantly impacting total capital expenditures (CAPEX). Efficient processes, field quality, and data accuracy are crucial for successful deployments.
Broadband Easy Connect offers operators, subcontractors, and retailers access to a cloud-based platform that automates the fiber connection process. The platform features tailored workflow tools that integrate seamlessly into the operator's IT environment, automating scheduling customer visits, dispatching engineers, and verifying field operations. Productivity tools for field engineers, such as ONT Easy Start and Optical Link Certifier, provide automated service activation and end-to-end line testing. Additionally, AI computer vision models validate port assignments and ensure proper installation of passive components.
Nokia’s solution leverages its extensive experience in fiber deployments, having helped operators connect over 300 million homes worldwide. The result is a reduction in the time spent on each home connection and a consistent user experience.
Sandra Motley, President of Fixed Networks at Nokia, stated, "With Broadband Easy Connect, we make it simple, fast, and cost-effective for operators to set up home fiber installations. This means happier customers and a growing fiber business. Operators can get it right the first time 95% of the time and cut repeat visits in half, speeding up fiber deployment by 20%."
Piotr Wieczokiewicz, COO of Nexera, praised Nokia's new service, saying, "Nokia has been a trusted service partner for many years, providing services and platforms that allow us to meet our challenging targets to build the fiber infrastructure and connect end-users right the first time, on time, and within budget."
Nokia's Broadband Easy Connect is set to revolutionize the home fiber connection process, making it more efficient, accurate, and cost-effective. This new service is expected to significantly benefit operators and their customers by reducing connection times, lowering costs, and enhancing the overall fiber deployment experience.
