Nokia gains 400 mn Euros of 5G deal from Taiwan Mobile

Nokia has said of bagging a 5G network deal from Taiwanese mobile operator Taiwan Mobile (TWM). Nokia is the sole supplier under the three-year-long deal.



The deal is valued at 400 million Euros, and includes 5G RAN5G Core, and 5G IMS and will see the deployment of 5G non-standalone (NSA) with the aim of migrating 5G standalone (SA) within a three-year period. The initial deployment under the deal is said to commence from this month.



Nokia is a long-standing partner of TWM and will support the company in its efforts to execute its ‘Super 5G strategy’ which is focused on sustainability and digital transformation. Under the deal Nokia will provide its 5G RAN portfolio, including Nokia AirScale Radio Access products. It will also provide its AirScale Micro Remote Radio Head (RRH) solution for addressing demand and coverage requirements.



The Taiwanese mobile operator will utilize several Nokia software solutions spanning across cloud and security services, as well as network optimization and management for 5G RAN, 5G Core, and 5G IMS.
