Delhi IT market in Nehru Place opens today

Delhi is currently under Red Zone amid coronavirus lockdown, yet the city is in a working zone under 33% staff strength.

In a meeting led by Delhi-NCR IT association, PCAIT, with ACP, SHO Kalkaji, and SDM Kalkaji, it has been decided that all private offices in Nehru Place Commercial Centre are permitted to open and work with restrictions of 33 per cent staff strength and social distancing under the MHA guidelines. However, close to 1500 exclusive and multi-branded retail stores will remain closed, until further notice.

Speaking exclusively in a press meet, after this meeting, Alok Gupta, President, PCAIT, informed, “Following the issued MHA guidelines, Nehru Place office owners have decided to open their offices from today with a thin workforce and maintaining strict social distancing and hygiene guidelines. Nevertheless, opening of retail stores located in ground and first floor for laptops and IT related products for customers buying will not be allowed.”

Presently, Asia's largest IT hub has close to 8,000 private offices including 1,500 to 2,000 mid to large IT stores, of which only 5,000 offices will be operational from today.

Gupta added, “The opening of offices will allow owners to resume the order delivery for new and pending demand, managing the spare parts and repair work. Initially, we may face operational challenges, but we can resume our finance and operational tasks in such time.”
