Twitter cuts down the number of Accounts User Can Follow per day

In coming days all social media platforms are  making their platforms more secure for users. Facebook and WhatsApp are also incorporating new features to fight fake news spread by spammers. Similarly tweeter also ahed in the race and is dramatically reducing the number of accounts it is possible to follow each day, in an apparent attempt to combat spam and bot accounts that populate its platform.

Previously, 1000 numbers of followers could be added in one day however now the number is changed. Now the number is 400, this move is taken in order to prevent spammers from adding a large number of followers on its platforms and later on deleting them in bulk and uncritical manner. This way will not actually violate Twitter’s terms and conditions. The change marks a considerable drop from the previous number, though still allows for more following than the average human user is likely to do in a 24 hour period.

"As a part of our commitment to building a healthy service, we remain focused on stopping spam and abuse on Twitter," a spokesperson for Twitter told on a report. "We found that having a high daily follow rate contributed to follower churn, and as a result, we are reducing the daily follow rate limit from 1,000 to 400." Follower churn, according to Twitter's help center, is the process of following and unfollowing accounts. The process is done to get the attention of users and try to get people to follow back to inflate one's follower count.

So, many would be thinking that why the spammers add these followers ? Basically, these snappers think that by adding these followers, many would follow them back. People who will follow them will find the number of spams on their timeline however if people do not follow them, they will be free.

Twitter has decided to limit the follower cap to 400 because it will allow people to follow accounts they are interested in but at the same time, they will halt the spams.

Twitter has long been fighting a battle against spam on its network, including clamping down on API usage. While the company will be hoping that this latest change will help with the problem, it is unlikely to have a negative impact on what the average user is able to do -- after all, very few people have a genuine need to follow more than 400 new accounts in a single day.
