With Rs. 41 crores collection, Gadar 2 smashes records for huge opening on non-holiday

This Friday saw the release of two starkly different films in the theatres - Gadar 2 and OMG 2. Interestingly, both new releases are sequels to highly popular franchises.  

 

But will they live up to expectations of the audience or will they bounce back is the question. Gadar 2, takes the story forward from the 2001 release Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprising their roles as Tara Singh and Sakeena respectively. The movie came with immense hype and anticipation, and sure enough it has garnered rave reviews and was received by the audience with open arms.

 

In this box office report, we look at the opening day collections of Gadar 2 while comparing the same to all-time previous releases. After receiving a thunderous response from the audience, Gadar 2 witnessed Rs. 40.10 cr coming in on its opening day.  

 

With such massive collections, the film has managed to surpass the previous release Sultan which had collected Rs. 36.54 cr, and even Dhoom 3 which had collected Rs. 36.22 cr. Gadar 2 has not only made it to the Top 10 highest all-time opening day grossers, but it currently ranks as the seventh highest all-time opening day grosser. 

 

Gadar 2 currently continues to run to packed theatres. With the craze for the film already having started on a high note and also the positive reviews, the business of Gadar 2 is expected to see immense growth over its opening weekend. As per current trends, trade predictions state that the business of Gadar 2 will easily cross the Rs. 100 cr mark by the end of its opening weekend.
