Zoom plans to launch its own email service

Zoom is reportedly gearing up to announce email and calendar apps. A report claims that the new services could be unveiled before the end of this year.

It is being said that Zoom will call its new apps Zmail and Zcal. While the company hasn’t yet made any official announcement about the launch of the new apps, the report suggests that it could launch the new versions in the next few weeks.

The services are expected to be announced at the company’s upcoming Zoomtopia conference. The apps have been in development for around two years. With the launch of its own email service, Zoom would be facing stiff competition from existing email service giants- Gmail, Apple Email and Outlook.

Google’s Gmail app is one of the most popular email services, followed by Apple’s email service and Microsoft Outlook. Also, Zoom has renamed its chat product and added some features, including third party integration. The video calling app’s calling feature, now known as Zoom Team Chat, will also include features such as the ability to share in-meeting chat to Team Chat, schedule a meeting from chat or channel. Moreover, the features will be released by the end of the month.
