The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced the Andhra Pradesh Innovation Policy and AP Startup Policy 2025, a strategic initiative aimed at transforming the state's entrepreneurial landscape. Covering the period from 2024 to 2029, the policy focuses on creating 20K Startups in Andhra Pradesh and nurturing 10 Unicorns in Andhra Pradesh within the next five years.
Andhra Pradesh currently houses 6,600 startups, with 2,400 of them registered under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). With an emphasis on technology-driven solutions, the Andhra Pradesh Startup Growth plan will support unicorn startups in Andhra Pradesh, along with 20 soonicorns, ensuring a well-rounded and sustainable entrepreneurial environment.
● Supporting 20K Startups: Providing mentorship, funding, and infrastructure support to 20,000 startups in Andhra Pradesh.
● Fostering 10 Unicorns: Encouraging high-potential ventures that can scale rapidly and achieve unicorn status.
● Creating 20 Soonicorns: Identifying and nurturing fast-growing startups on the path to becoming unicorns.
● Expanding Centres of Excellence: Establishing 10 new innovation hubs focused on AI, blockchain, XR, EVs, cybersecurity, IoT, and more.
“The Andhra Pradesh Innovation & Startup Policy 4.0 wishes to not only elaborate the ecosystem setup, but also various support arrangements and funding structures to ensure rapid transformation of the sector in the state,” the policy document said.
The policy aims to connect entrepreneurs to global markets, promote grassroots startups, and drive tech adoption. It will leverage the state's industrial strengths and resources. Additionally, the government will establish the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) in Amravati, with five regional centers supporting startups through a hub-and-spoke model.
The government’s commitment through the Andhra Pradesh Innovation Policy ensures a dynamic and investor-friendly environment that fosters entrepreneurship. With substantial support and dedicated initiatives under the AP Startup Policy 2025, Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a premier startup hub in India, generating employment, innovation, and economic growth.
