Samsung debuts Health Records feature on its health app

Users can create an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) in the Samsung Health app, gaining access to a secure Electronic Health Records (EHR) system certified by ABDM

Samsung has rolled out a new Health Records feature on its Health app, aligning with the Indian government's Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This addition aims to revolutionize digital health records management by enabling users to securely access and manage their personal health records digitally, reducing dependency on physical documents.

Effortless health data access

The feature allows users to create an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) directly within the Samsung Health app. Once registered using an Aadhaar or mobile number, users gain access to a secure Electronic Health Records (EHR) system certified by ABDM. This digital repository offers seamless access to medical history, including prescriptions, diagnostic results, and records of hospital visits, all linked to a unique ABHA ID. With mobile health records on the Samsung platform, users can easily keep track of their health data and share it with healthcare providers.

Samsung's collaboration with Eka Care, an ABDM-certified integrator, ensures smooth integration with healthcare providers across India. Users visiting ABDM-compliant hospitals and clinics can scan a QR code via the app to generate a virtual queue token, streamlining outpatient services and reducing wait times. Eka Care co-founder Deepak Tuli highlighted the partnership’s role in advancing digital health records solutions and fostering a connected healthcare ecosystem in India.

Advancing digital healthcare with secure features

The development of this feature involved extensive input from Samsung’s R&D, UX Design, and Consumer Experience teams to deliver a user-friendly interface. Beyond Health Records, the Samsung Health app continues to offer services such as sleep tracking, mindfulness programs, medication reminders, and irregular heartbeat alerts. With the Health app updates, users can benefit from a more holistic approach to health management.

User data within the app is safeguarded by Samsung’s Knox Security Platform, ensuring robust privacy and security. Indian users can access the Health Records feature by updating their Samsung Health app via the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store.

This initiative underscores Samsung’s commitment to supporting India’s digital healthcare transformation by offering convenient, secure, and innovative solutions for managing electronic health records (EHR). By integrating with ABDM, the Health Records feature represents a significant step toward modernizing the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.
