Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced Odisha government's women-focused Subhadra Yojana. The initiative, named after Goddess Subhadra, sister of Lord Jagannath, aims to support more than one crore women between the ages of 21 and 60.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the scheme in Bhubaneswar during his visit to the state, marking his birthday.
A total of Rs 50,000 will be granted to each qualifying woman who enrols in the initiative. This would happen over five years, beginning in the fiscal year 2024–2025.
The amount of Rs 10,000 will be credited to the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries in two equal instalments.
So far 76 lakh women have registered in the scheme.
Funds were credited to the accounts of more than 10 lakh women on the launch day, this marks the beginning of the program.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted that this scheme was a part of the BJP’s manifesto in Odisha and aims to uplift women economically.
Pradhan said, “Prime Minister Modi has given a big gift to the women of the state.”
