Govt warns SBI users to delete scam messages immediately to avoid losing money

The State Bank of India (SBI) is warning users of a new scam that scammers are using to steal money and personal details. In a tweet, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) is asking SBI users to be careful of messages that inform them that their account has been blocked.

Scammers are reportedly sending such alerts through SMSs. PIB further explains that through the fake SBI message, the scammers are asking users to submit their personal documents since the account has been blocked.

Scammers through the message ask users to click on the link sent with the message to get their account activated again. The fraud message reads: “Dear A/c holder SBI BANK documents has expired A/c will be blocked Now Click http://sbikvs.II Update by NetBanking.”

The government agency took to its official Twitter handle to warn users. In one of the tweets, PIB noted, “a message in circulation claiming that your @TheOfficialSBI account has been blocked is #FAKE.”

PBI is also informing users that they must not respond to emails/SMS asking to share their personal or banking details. If they receive any such message, they should report immediately at report.phishing @sbi.co.in and the bank will take immediate action.

Previously as well, scammers asked SBI users to get their KYC done by clicking on the link they sent that required them to enter their banking and personal details.
