Newton School receives $5 million in Series A funding

The ed-tech startup, Newton School has raised $5 million in Series A funding led by RTP Global. The existing investors like Nexus Venture Partners, Prophetic Ventures and Unacademy co-founders Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini and Hemesh Singh also participated in the round.

 

Along with the angel investors, Flipkart’s CEO Kalyan KrishnamoorthyCRED’s Kunal ShahFreshworks’ Girish Mathrubootham, Udaan’s Sujeet Kumar and Razorpay founders Harshil Mathur & Shashank Kumar also participated in the round. The company said its 6-month-long cohort-based course includes 1000+ hours of coding, 50+ hours of soft skills training, live projects, and mentorship oversight.

 

The company has said that companies like Zomato, Unacademy, Nykaa, Affle to large MNCs like Publicis Sapient, Thoughtworks, Motorola, and Nutanix have recruited its students.

 

“Newton School receives tens of thousands of applications for every cohort, and has rapidly grown 10 times its students intake in a year with its latest cohort having 300+ students. With an aim to bridge the gender gap in the workforce, it recently launched a women led all women tech program to help women re-enter the workforce, equipped with industry ready skills,” the company said in the release.

 

Newton School had raised $650,000 in a seed round of funding in September last year. The funding was led by venture capital firm Nexus Venture Partners. Unacademy founders Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini, and Hemesh Singh were also among those who participated in the funding, as per news report.
