Serious glitch found in Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook users all over the world experienced glitches as the services impacting web mail, desktop and mobile were down for nearly four hours on Thursday. Microsoft, first said that Indian users were primarily affected by the outage. It later added a tweet saying that Outlook users worldwide were getting affected. We've received reports of users experiencing issues accessing their Exchange Online accounts via Outlook on the Web. Our initial investigation indicates that India-based users are the primarily impacted audience," Microsoft 365 wrote in a service tweet. Microsoft attributed the cause of the downtime to a recent configuration update. "We've determined that a recent configuration update to components that route user requests was the cause of impact. We've reverted the update and are monitoring the service for recovery," the tweet read.

Microsoft further said that the update has been reverted and that Microsoft is monitoring the service for recovery. A Microsoft spokesperson told Forbes that Outlook's downtime was a service interruption while performing authentication operations and no indication of malicious activity being the cause. This is the second time this week that Microsoft’s services were down. On Monday, Microsoft Outlook, Office 365, Teams experienced issues for nearly six hours.
