Adobe confirms Lightroom iOS photos erased due to update bug

Adobe released a new version of its Lightroom app for iOS this week and it unfortunately has caused some users to permanently lose their photos and presets. An update has been released since fixing the issue but Adobe says there’s no way to help those already affected by the flaw to recover lost images and data.

Adobe accidentally deleted people’s photos in latest Lightroom update. With this users started seeing the problem with Lightroom on iPhone and iPad after updating to version 5.4 (now pulled and superseded by 5.4.1) on Tuesday this week (via PetaPixel).

An Adobe representative acknowledged the bug and version 5.4.1 resolved the issue. But sadly they also said that lost pictures and presets “cannot be recovered”. The problematic update ended up deleting content that was out of sync with the Lightroom cloud.

As per verge, Adobe representative Rikk Flohr acknowledged and apologized for the snafu in a forum post yesterday. Per Flohr, the company has released another update “to prevent this issue from impacting additional customers.” However, the photos can’t be recovered, according to Flohr. The update won’t help anyone who’s already been impacted.
