Uber to soon offer hiring of 'taskers' for household chores
By MYBRANDBOOK
Uber will reportedly offer a new "Chore" service, allowing users to hire people for various jobs. The "Chore" service would enable users to hire "taskers" through the Uber app. Users can specify what they need help with, how long the task will take, what time they want the tasker to arrive and to which location, then Uber will send a handyman calculating the payment based on the time required to finish the task. However, users will have to pay for a minimum of one hour regardless of the task's duration.
It could offer a wide range of categories to choose from including cleaning, furniture assembly, electrical help, plumbing, TV mounting, packing and moving, snow removal, computer assistance, pet sitting, and even senior care.
The ‘Chores’ would be a new category for the ride-hailing cum food-delivery, which is looking to broaden its offerings. Last year, the ride-hailing company tested Errands, a service for running chores such as flower delivery and online returns. However, the service has not been made available to all users. Uber could similarly run a pilot for ‘Chores’ before even or not releasing it to the users.
On the sidelines, Uber is developing an AI chatbot for Uber Eats to help customers choose their next meal. The chatbot will provide recommendations and help customers place orders quickly. The AI assistant will assist customers in finding suitable dishes at restaurants. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi confirmed that Uber is working on integrating AI into its services. The company has been using machine learning and AI systems within its app for years.
