Two Kerala doctors lose their life due to a misleading Google Maps route
By MYBRANDBOOK
Two doctors from Kerala, both age 29, tragically perished while following the route suggested by Google Maps. The doctors perished after their GPS navigation system misdirected them into the Periyar river's dangerous currents. This tragic occurrence took place in Kochi's Gothuruth area.
Google Maps is unquestionably helpful in a variety of circumstances. This incident shows if it is adhered blindly, then can be ended in a challenging or even dangerous circumstance. Advaith was behind the wheel of a Honda Civic carrying three other passengers. The combination of darkness, heavy rain, and unfamiliar terrain prompted Advaith to rely completely on the route shown by Google Maps.
Tragedy struck when the driver missed a crucial turn indicated by Google Maps and continued straight ahead. Unbeknownst to them, this path did not lead to a road but directly into a waterlogged stretch, causing their vehicle to sink into the Periyar river.
The heavy rainfall at the time severely reduced visibility, compounding their dire situation. Authorities explained, "The visibility was very low due to heavy rains. They were following a route shown by Google Maps. But it appears that instead of taking a left turn as suggested by the maps, they mistakenly continued forward and ended up in the river."
However, this is not the first time people have lost lives because of Google Maps. In a tragic incident last September, Philip Paxson, a devoted father and US Navy veteran, lost his life due to a navigation app mishap, shedding light on concerns about app accuracy.
