Tara Smith to Lead As The Chief Communications Officer in Intel
By MYBRANDBOOK
Intel Corporation today announced the promotion of Tara Smith, vice president of technology communications, to chief communications officer, vice president and general manager of the Global Communications Group. Smith will oversee Intel’s global communications organization, promoting the company’s brand through strategic corporate, technology and employee communications around the world.
“Tara demonstrates a strong understanding of our people, and her purpose-driven leadership distinguishes her within Intel and in the industry. This, coupled with her experience across enterprise technology and consumer industries, and a deep-rooted understanding of Intel’s business make her an asset to Intel’s leadership team,” said Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Sales, Marketing and Communications Group.
“Now more than ever, communications plays a critical role as we spotlight the technology leadership and greater purpose Intel is advancing along with our partners and customers,” Smith said. “I am honored to work with this tremendous global team of communicators, to expand the dialogue with our employees, and to share what makes Intel special with media, analysts and customers around the globe.”
Smith has spent more than 20 years overseeing strategic communications programs for technology companies. Most recently she led technology communications as part of Intel’s Global Communications Group, where she was responsible for driving recognition of the company’s technology and product leadership. Prior to joining Intel in 2016, Tara was a senior vice president at WE Communications, where she served as an executive lead on the agency’s Microsoft business, heading up the Windows and OEM teams. Tara has also held senior-level communications roles at Marqui, a software startup, and Sterling Communications, a Silicon Valley-based PR firm.
She will report to Johnston Holthaus.
