The latest funding round has pushed Anthropic ahead of OpenAI in valuation, strengthening its position in the global AI race as demand for enterprise AI tools, coding assistants, and advanced reasoning models continues to surge worldwide.

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has emerged as the world’s most valuable AI startup following a major Series H funding round that significantly boosted the company’s market valuation. The latest financing round reportedly valued Anthropic at $965 billion, placing it ahead of rival OpenAI, which was previously valued at $852 billion earlier this year.

According to reports, the funding round was backed by major investors including Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital. The financing package also included previously committed investments, among them a substantial contribution from Amazon. The latest capital infusion marks a sharp rise in Anthropic’s valuation compared to earlier this year, highlighting growing investor confidence in enterprise-focused AI companies.

Anthropic’s rapid growth has also been reflected in its financial performance. The company reportedly reached a $47 billion revenue run rate, a major jump from earlier projections. Much of this momentum has been driven by the increasing adoption of Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI-powered coding assistant, which has gained popularity among enterprises and software developers.

New AI models strengthen Anthropic’s portfolio

Anthropic recently expanded its product lineup with the launch of Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Mythos Preview, a cybersecurity-focused AI system currently being offered to selected organizations. The company said the new models are designed to improve reasoning capabilities, coding accuracy, and reliability in enterprise use cases.

Anthropic Chief Financial Officer Krishan Rai stated that customer demand for Claude products continues to grow rapidly across global markets. He added that the new funding would support the company’s research efforts and help expand the availability of its AI tools across different industries and workplaces.

The company also claimed that its latest models demonstrate improved performance in identifying uncertainties and reducing unsupported outputs. Internal testing reportedly showed notable improvements in code review accuracy and advanced reasoning tasks.

Intensifying competition in the AI industry

Anthropic’s rise comes amid intensifying competition with OpenAI as both firms continue to dominate the rapidly expanding generative AI sector. Reports suggest both companies are preparing for potential public listings later this year.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently acknowledged the challenges associated with the company’s rapid expansion, revealing that usage and revenue growth had significantly exceeded earlier expectations, placing additional pressure on computing infrastructure and operational planning.
