The Indian army and the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) established a Quantum Lab to boost research and training as well as an Artificial Intelligence Centre at the Military College of Telecommunication and Engineering (MCTE) in Madhya Pradesh's Mhow.
The two centres will carry out extensive research in developing transformative technologies for use by the armed forces. The Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane also visited the facility during his recent visit to Mhow.
The army said in a statement, “Training on cyber warfare is being imparted through a state of art cyber range, and cyber security labs. Key thrust areas are Quantum Key Distribution, Quantum Communication, Quantum Computing and Post Quantum Cryptography.”
The ministry said the research undertaken by the Army in the field of quantum technology would help it leapfrog into the next generation of communication and transform the current system of cryptography to post-quantum cryptography.
MCTE is a leading government college based in Mhow which provides a range of academic courses and programmes.
