Dilip Asbe, MD & CEO of NPCI, was the organization’s first employee and architected India’s digital payments revolution Mr. Asbe’s achievements in NPCI include building high capacity platforms which are helping the nation to transform into less-cash. He is strong leader who has ensured the delivery of processing over 1 billion transactions a month, designing UPI, BHIM, IMPS, and RuPay. Under his leadership, UPI recorded over 228.5 billion transactions in 2025 alone and UPI registered over 241 billion transactions in the 2025–2026 financial year . Honored with the Changemaker of the Year and ET Policy Change Agent awards, Asbe is celebrated as a Technology Icon for democratizing real-time digital payments globally.
